#Korean Lunar new year
Do you know Korean Lunar New Year?
There are two New Year holidays in Korea. We call them 설날. One is January 1st in the solar calendar and the other one is on the lunar calendar, the dates are different. This year, the Lunar new year was on February the 10th.
It was a holiday from 9th until 12th. This is a 3day holiday and if one of the days land on the weekend, we can take an extra weekday off.
In the morning, we hold an ancestral rite(차례) and bow to adults(세배). children also receive New Year’s money(세뱃돈). We eat rice cake soup(떡국), which symbolizes being one year older.
